Words of Wisdom- Article Published In Times Of India

One of the biggest misconceptions about Wisdom teeth is that they make you wise. If you go by the dentist’s words then they are a bane and need to be removed as soon as possible
“Wisdom teeth are a pain and if you have impacted wisdom teeth, you should have them removed at first possible instance.” Said Dr. Aakash shah of Oracare Dental Care Centre.
Dr. Aakash Shah’s Oracare Dental Care Centre is the first Dental clinic in Pune to have an ISO 9001:2000 certification. “All oral care procedures require utmost sterilization and we have a five-step procedure that we follow,” said Dr. Aakash.
Dr. Neera Shah, of Oracare Dental Care Centre has a word of caution for patients who are avoiding removing the impacted wisdom teeth, “They are very different to clean, and therefore often get decayed. It is usually not possible to repair such teeth simply because they are so inaccessible. Since they are different to clean, they often get decayed, they have a flap of gum, which can give you repaired infection. They also pose risk for the adjacent teeth. At time they may even form cysts, tumors and even jaw fracture common amongst sportsman”
On what exactly wisdom teeth are, Dr. Aakash explained, “Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are teeth that appear at the very back of the mouth between the ages of 18 and 25 years. They are the last of the adult permanent teeth to develop.” He further adds that if wisdom teeth come out fully, then they could prove quite useful and by careful cleaning, they could last a lifetime.
